The work carried out by Environmental Action Germany makes an important contribution to ensuring that current and future generations have every chance to lead a fulfilling life in an intact environment.The DUH department of municipal environmental protection supports cities and towns as well as municipal enterprises in climate protection and maintaining biodiversity by nationwide competitions, campaigns, consultancy and surveys. Association of Municipalities Polish Network “Energie Cités” (PL)

Since 1994 PNEC promotes energy efficiency and use of renewable energy sources, implements projects supporting sustainable energy development of Polish municipalities and organizes conferences, seminars, workshops and study tours devoted to energy-related issues.

Energiaklub (HU)

By now it has become a leading “think and do” tank organization in the field of sustainable energy, being the only NGO in Hungary whose work is solely concentrated on energy issues. Among other activities, we conduct research projects, provide trainings, carry out communication campaigns and support journalists with information and insight. Energiaklub closely works with municipalities on various projects, like the preparation of SECAPs (Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan).

With more than 900 communities, over 700 businesses and 350 schools in Austria is one of the biggest national organizations of the Climate Alliance.

IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute ltd. (SE)

IVL was established in 1966 and has since then been involved in the development of solutions to environmental problems, both at national and international level.IVL participates in more than 30 EU-funded projects (20 FP7-projects) in various R&D fields. Connected to Smart Cities the projects, “train the trainer” (Switch Asia-Europe Aid), Smart Build (FP7-EeB-Energy), PRINCIP (Regional Funds) ZEN – Zero Energy Neighbourhood (FP7) Transparency (IEE) and CITyFiED (FP7) can be mentioned. Furthermore, IVL has; developed the Swedish Criteria’s for Low Energy Buildings (Swedish Energy Agency), Developed BREEAM Sweden (Sweden Green Building Council), been assigned as the project leader for the national Capacity Building program (2004-2010) for the Swedish building sector in energy and resource efficiency (National Agency for Housing and Planning).
